This is a cake that I made almost three years ago.<\/p>\n

My daughter, like so many little girls, is crazy about princesses and dolls. For her sixth birthday she wanted a cake about princesses.<\/p>\n

So we decided on a castle cake for her princesses.<\/p>\n

To make the cake, I used my famous family recipe sponge cake<\/a> for the main area of the castle. Then I made some cupcakes for the towers, each castle has to have towers!<\/p>\n

To finish the towers, I used ice cream cones to create the conical shape of the castle tower roofs. My daughter wanted her castle to be pink and silver. So I used some pink icing around the edges and silver luster dust to fancy up the main building and the towers<\/p>\n

Now every castle has a moat and either a draw bridge or a very solid brick bridge. In the case of this castle, we went with a solid bridge and I tried to make it look like a brick road.<\/p>\n

A bit of icing, marshmallow fondant and candies to finish the castle and voila!<\/p>\n

A castle cake. (how do you like the banana’s on the towers)<\/p>\n

The princesses added to the total picture as you can see, Princess Ariel is even swimming in the Moat. As a result of this cake, one of my daughter’s friends wanted a castle cake for her birthday as well. I made her a castle cake, but not quite like this one.<\/p>\n
