The first ladybug cake is a double layer vanilla sponge cake with mocha buttercream icing on the bottom layer and lemon curd filling inside the top layer. The ladybird shell is made with red chocolate candy melts and decorated with black buttercream icing.
The second lady bug cake is a pinata smash cake. It is a single layer cake covered in my yummy mocha buttercream frosting and decorated with a single leaf sprinkled with green sugar sprinkles. The pinata topping is a ladybug that I made out of pink chocolate candy melts that I painted the features on inside of a Tupperware plastic bowl. The candy treats inside of the ladybug pinata topper were jelly beans and smarties (or m & m’s – candy coated chocolates)
I topped the second ladybug cake with a single vanilla cupcake with a delicious swirl of pink and purple colored mocha icing.
