A Motivational Cake for the New Year

Motivational CakeI created this cake a few years ago for a friend of mine that needed a bit of a boost.

She was feeling kind of down and with a birthday close to New Years, it is hard to first of all get your friends to attend and secondly to get your morale up when you are feeling like she was.

Now, with the end of the year nearing very rapidly, I thought this cake would be very appropriate. Lots of people will start the new year with their New Years’ resolutions which are mostly good intentions that they will hopefully stick to. The most common being to lose weight. Did I say that this cake was appropriate? ;0)

This cake is about more than just good intentions, it is about a reminder of how people think of you and how think of yourself. In a way it is a motivational cake and more or less a self improvement cake.

I used the phrases: “Love, Joy, Hope, Success, Wow, Achieve, Freedom and Oh Yeah”, these were the words that my friend needed to hear.

Even though this cake is very simple, it did bring it’s point across and my friend was in tears when she saw the cake. She knew for sure, someone cared about her.

To create the cake, I used marshmallow fondant and the letters were created by rolling out the fondant to a thicker layer of about 6mm (1/2in) and then I cut them out with my kids’ play-dough letter cookie cutters.

My New Years resolution does not involve any dieting and never will. Mine is about helping other people achieving their goals and their greatness.

I hope you enjoy this post and get motivated to create your own cool cakes, for now, Happy New Year and Happy Cake Decorating and Creating!
