My son is REALLY into Minecraft so I had an idea of what it was all about (like a digital version of the classic LEGO building fun we had as kids) when my good friend, Angela, asked me if I would make a Minecraft Cake for her son’s birthday.
I had been wanting to make a Minecraft Birthday Cake for a long time and this was the perfect opportunity! I did have one very BIG problem though…
I was still recovering from having been in a 3 week Coma and having miraculously survived ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) so my strength was not where it needed to be to take on such a hefty endeavour!
But my two wonderful kiddos, Xanthe and Quinn, stepped right up to the plate to help me take on this amazing Minecraft Cake Adventure!
So then I had to figure out how to make a Minecraft Cake for a birthday idea! I really love how in the Minecraft game everything is made up of blocks (just like with LEGO). So I wanted to make that part prominent on the cake. I thought, and thought. And then… AH HA! I had it! The perfect idea!
I decided to cut up the actual cake to look like blocks of dirt and then let my kids have fun creating fondant Minecraft figures (like playing with Play Dough … only MUCH tastier!)
Fondant can be VERY expensive, so instead we made our own homemade fondant made out of Marshmallows! MUCH YUMMIER INDEED!
Angela’s son, Daniel, LOVED his Minecraft Cake … A Minecraft FARM Cake!
