Today I’m going to show you how to make a really easy flower pot cake. Hi I’m Amanda van der Gulik from www.CleverDoughCakes.com and today I want to share with you a really simple way to make a very cool flower pot cake.

What I did for this cake is I used my family secret sponge cake recipe and I also used mocha icing.

You can find those recipes on my blog here:

Alright let’s get started! So this cake was super simple. I covered it completely in mocha icing, then I put the fondant around the bottom, with a thinner slash around the top to create that overlap look from the pot. I then sprinkled some brown sugar on top and then I just had fun creating flower pieces out of the leftover fondant that I quite often keep.

It’s more about the idea behind the cake than the actual cake. I hope you enjoyed this and you’re inspired to know that you can make beautiful cakes from leftover material and still make your birthday person super happy with the end result!
