Fun Cake Decorating Ideas – Birthday Cakes – Flower Vase

Flower Vase CakeThis is a cute little cake I did for a good friend of the family.

Her birthday is very close to my dad’s birthday, so I usually end up baking and decorating a cake for her as well.

Every year we have a huge bonfire party for my dad’s birthday and all family and friends are invited. I did not want to make this cake too big because we already had another cake. (obviously this was not a very recent event, as it is the middle of winter now)

This cake shows you that a nice looking cake does not have to be big at all. Sometimes small cakes are more appropriate and they can be decorated just as well as bigger cakes, even though you have a smaller “canvas”.

The cake form I used is the same as what you would use for the dress of a barbie type cake. I sculpted the vase shape out of the cake and decorated it with purple butter-cream icing.

The flowers were done with brightly coloured marshmallow fondant and little candies. Our friend loved it and I think she actually took it home to enjoy.
