This is the fourth post on a birthday cake I made in a row and the third one for a family member. I created this one for my daddy. (Yes, I still call him Daddy)
My daddy is a hunter and he mainly hunts deer in our backyard in Canada. So far, most of his birthday cakes have either had a general hunting theme or a deer theme. This time is no different because for this cake I choose the deer theme.
Again, this is a fairly simple cake. I used my family recipe sponge cake and made my cake in a round cake pan.
To decorate it, I used butter cream icing and coloured coconut for the grass behind the deer head.
For the deer and the badge I used coloured fondant and for the face of the deer I used brown sugar to get the nice texture.
My daddy loves his licorice so for the nose and the eyes I used dutch coin licorice.
In my Fun Cake Decorating Ideas book I have some more animal themed cakes, Click Here to get the book.
